Fix Bad Sector issues with HDD using Hiren’s Boot

Complete Guide::::

step 1 : Download Hiren’s Boot CD image from here

step 2 : Once downloaded Burn it to disc or make a bootable usb

step 3 : When you finish burning the disk /making usb bootable we need to boot from it, by inserting

the disk in the  CD/DVD Drive/ usb in hub and re-start the computer.

step 4 : In the re-start process you will see a message Press any key to boot from usb/CD. Tap the

Enter Key on your key board. If you don’t see this message then you need to change the boot

sequence.

step 5 : Select the option “DOS programs” from the Hiren’s dos menu.

step 6 : Enter the choice : 6 for Hard Disk Tools in the menu.

step 7 : Enter the choice : 1 for HDAT2 4.53 (Test/Repair of Bad Sectors).

step 8 : Now the HDAT2 program window will be opened and select your Hard Disk from the menu.

step 9 : From the “Devices Test Menu” choose the option “Check and Repair Bad Sectors“.

 

step 10 : Now the repairing process will continue for about several minutes based on your Hard Disk

size.

NOTE ::::  Back up highly important data since there is less than 1% chance for loss of some

file..Bit normally it won’t happen

Hirens Boot CD .. Why So Usefull!!!

Ever heard of  hiren’s boot CD or shortly HBCD? well some of you may say yes. so whats its use? Ii got so many uses for a person who own a laptop or a personal computer at home. HBCD gives a lot of  testing and recovery options for you. Some times you may got into a situation where “oh my god where is my partition gone!!”. well there are so many software available to recover the lost data, though, we have a mini XP  running with so many goodies that may save your data. Technically speaking HBCD is an OS .. specifically a recovery OS.

Features of HBCD:

  1.  Password Retrieving

                                         There are so many scenarios in which you may forget you account password for your windows pc or laptop. Hiren’s gives you a chance to wipe the password out of it.

So that you could log in again and set a new password for your system. This works till windows 7 since Microsoft has added UEFI  secured booting support in windows 8 & 8.1. But developers are trying to fix this issue since password retrieval is important for users.

2.  Bad Sector Fix

                                          HBCD gives you the option to run bad sector removal in your HDD even without entering into OS. i,e. it runs on dos shell. Some bad sectors are so bad that even the system can’t boot up .. Windows have inbuilt bad sector fixing technology . But what if you are not able to boot up. So HBCD either running on CD or thumb can fix this problem

3. S.M.A.R.T Error Check

                                         Most of you , at least once should have face this error in start up.This is a error that i personally don’t like. Its regarding the Hard disk.. Its when your HDD’s firmware goes wrong.S.M.A.R.T stands for self monitoring and reporting technology. Hard disk become unusable , in most cases, when it affects with a smart error. This is so fatal and after windows 7, since windows introduced fast boot , to check SMART we need HBCD.
